GIG HARBOR, WA — Two years ago, Canterwood Golf & Country Club completed a multimillion-dollar renovation of its Gig Harbor facilities, overhauling dining, recreation, and event spaces in a move that underscores its standing as a top-tier private club and event venue.
The most visible change is a redesigned dining room now called The Stablehouse, a name drawn from the club’s equestrian roots. Canterwood takes its name from the canter, a horse’s rhythmic gait, reflecting its origins as a private equestrian community. The renovation doubled the size of the bar area, restructured the dining layout, and updated the menu to blend new culinary offerings with longtime member favorites. A new private dining room was also added to accommodate intimate gatherings and special events.
Changes extended beyond the clubhouse. The club converted existing courts into eight pickleball courts, continuing a trend seen at private clubs across the country as demand for the sport has surged. On the golf side, practice facilities received new amenities including two putting greens, a pitching area, and a greenside bunker. The course itself, ranked among the top ten in Washington State, was not part of the renovation scope and remains open.
The club also retained its tennis facilities and resort-style pool, rounding out what Canterwood is pitching as a more complete family and social destination. “This renovation has been a game-changer for everything we do here,” said Monica Newby, Canterwood’s Event Sales Director. “From weddings and corporate events to member gatherings, we now have spaces that truly match the caliber of the experiences we want to deliver.”
According to Newby, the completed renovation is part of a broader, ongoing redesign of the club that is now two years in the making. The work is being driven by Invited, the Dallas-based private club operator that owns Canterwood along with more than 300 clubs across North America. The company has described the effort as an initiative to modernize its properties while preserving the character that defines each individual club
Canterwood is located at 4154 Canterwood Drive NW in Gig Harbor.
